This year has been a very bumpy ride for me. With surgeries and doing things completely opposite from what I had been expecting, my A type personality has had a rough time accepting all the changes. I was confused and hurt and just miserable about my plans being derailed in July. However, I have come to realize that without all these changes my life would not be what it is today.
The beginning of the semester I started working at Mount Pisgah Academy. It is my alma mater and I have loved the chance to get back on campus and work with friends again! Though the people are great, I have had a hard time adjusting to the slower pace that I found myself forced into. At Southern I'm constantly with someone, studying something, or rushing to work. At Pisgah, I have down time. And times where I am just sitting and writing blogs or something else that seems completely mundane and boring to me. Luckily I have friends in the area and we try to get together for a study/hangout session every week which helps the loneliness and boredom that seem to creep into my life on a weekly basis. I am also getting the chance to take A&P this semester. It is challenging, but I absolutely love it! So many little things have made slight differences in my attitude this semester.
Because I enjoy being challenged and as busy as humanly possible, I have had alot of time to think about different thing this semester. The biggest change that has come about because of all this thinking time is a change of major. I was an elementary education major just a couple months ago, but now I am pre-Physical Therapy at SAU. I have 1 more school year at Southern and then I'm off to far away places(either Andrews or Loma Linda). With this change has come a new wave of excitement for me. Something that I now realize was missing from my last major. I know I will be challenged and have to be on my toes to complete this degree in the year I have planned for it, but it is incredibly exciting to me!
Another amazing opportunity that has come out of my Task Force time is a trip to Puerto Rico. The choir has their big tour this year and I have been asked to go along as Lifeguard and chaperone. I'm incredibly excited to get to go to an amazing island country, which is what I had wanted to do all along. I will be going with the Parra's who are my closest friends at Pisgah and I can't wait for all the fun we will have!
My favorite aspect of this semester has been the time I've gotten to spend with my family. It has been so fun to go home every night and compare stories of the day with my best friend. With mom and I both busy when I'm away, we don't get to chat as much as I'd like and this semester has been great for me to feel closer to her as a friend and daughter. Thankfully I get along wonderfully with my younger brother and he is the coolest kid I know! It's been great dragging him around to different places with my friends and getting to know him more as an adult than as a little kid. He's growing up to be an amazing man and I'm so proud of him! I have always been a daddy's girl, but discussing real life issues instead of the money I need to go to the mall has been really fun too! I'm so glad that I was given the opportunity to spend more time with my family this year!
